Narrative:

On arrival to clt for an ILS runway 36L. Briefed the approach including missed approach altitude of 3600 ft. Controller cleared us for the approach to maintain 3600 ft until established. Thought we read back 3600 ft. I set 3600 ft in window and we both pointed to it. At 4100 ft, ATC said we were supposed to intercept at 4600 ft. We were taken off the approach on vectors and climbed to 4600 ft. We were vectored for another approach.
