Narrative:

I was conducting an first officer IOE and was flying the first leg of our sequence, as is customary with our CYY3 arrival proceeding normally, when approach control handed us off to mia tower with a frequency. On contact, what we thought was mia tower, cleared us to land (runway was not mentioned -- and I do not remember whether the tower name was spoken). When we were on short final, about 2 1/2 mi, the tower controller said, 'air carrier X, where are you.' the first officer replied as to our location, '2 mi out for runway 9L,' tower said, 'air carrier X, you are on the wrong frequency. This is fort lauderdale tower. Contact miami tower,' which we of course did and got a proper clearance to land on runway 9L. This was a series of human errors. Approach control mistakenly gave us ft lauderdale tower frequency. Ft lauderdale mistakenly did not issue cleared runway. We did not notice those omissions. It is extremely fortunate that ft lauderdale caught the error when they did. Lesson for me is to be vigilant about hearing the name of the proper facility and then making sure that the cleared runway is also specified in the landing (or takeoff) clearance.

Title: APCHING MIA RWY 9L AN ACR IS ON THE TWR FREQ FOR FLL.

Narrative: I WAS CONDUCTING AN FO IOE AND WAS FLYING THE FIRST LEG OF OUR SEQUENCE, AS IS CUSTOMARY WITH OUR CYY3 ARR PROCEEDING NORMALLY, WHEN APCH CTL HANDED US OFF TO MIA TWR WITH A FREQ. ON CONTACT, WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS MIA TWR, CLRED US TO LAND (RWY WAS NOT MENTIONED -- AND I DO NOT REMEMBER WHETHER THE TWR NAME WAS SPOKEN). WHEN WE WERE ON SHORT FINAL, ABOUT 2 1/2 MI, THE TWR CTLR SAID, 'ACR X, WHERE ARE YOU.' THE FO REPLIED AS TO OUR LOCATION, '2 MI OUT FOR RWY 9L,' TWR SAID, 'ACR X, YOU ARE ON THE WRONG FREQ. THIS IS FORT LAUDERDALE TWR. CONTACT MIAMI TWR,' WHICH WE OF COURSE DID AND GOT A PROPER CLRNC TO LAND ON RWY 9L. THIS WAS A SERIES OF HUMAN ERRORS. APCH CTL MISTAKENLY GAVE US FT LAUDERDALE TWR FREQ. FT LAUDERDALE MISTAKENLY DID NOT ISSUE CLRED RWY. WE DID NOT NOTICE THOSE OMISSIONS. IT IS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE THAT FT LAUDERDALE CAUGHT THE ERROR WHEN THEY DID. LESSON FOR ME IS TO BE VIGILANT ABOUT HEARING THE NAME OF THE PROPER FACILITY AND THEN MAKING SURE THAT THE CLRED RWY IS ALSO SPECIFIED IN THE LNDG (OR TKOF) CLRNC.
