Narrative:
Prior to departure from osh I programmed my new GPS with a destination of sgf (springfield, mo). Our flight to springfield was fine using the GPS. Prior to departure from osh I checked the WX radar. I did not file a flight plan because there were approximately 20 people in line for briefings and filing. I forgot to ask about the status of P-49. After refueling at sgf, I asked my copilot to program the GPS for 88R using the quick start manual. I found it difficult to read the manual, attempt to program the GPS and maintain altitude and heading. Distraction by the GPS I drifted west and flew over tstc-waco which is 25 NM from P-49 (east). We were soon intercepted by an F16. I tuned the radio to 121.5 and was instructed to tune to waco approach for instructions. We were instructed to land at waco regional for FAA and secret service interrogation. I learned that P-49 tfr was activated the day before. I am fully aware of P-49 and it was my error for failing to check its status. I would recommend that P-49 be made 30 NM radius as long as there is a government official.

Title: PLT AND PAX OF BE35 ARE INTERCEPTED BY MIL F16 WHEN THEY PENETRATE THE EXPANDED P49 TFR.
Narrative: PRIOR TO DEP FROM OSH I PROGRAMMED MY NEW GPS WITH A DEST OF SGF (SPRINGFIELD, MO). OUR FLT TO SPRINGFIELD WAS FINE USING THE GPS. PRIOR TO DEP FROM OSH I CHKED THE WX RADAR. I DID NOT FILE A FLT PLAN BECAUSE THERE WERE APPROX 20 PEOPLE IN LINE FOR BRIEFINGS AND FILING. I FORGOT TO ASK ABOUT THE STATUS OF P-49. AFTER REFUELING AT SGF, I ASKED MY COPLT TO PROGRAM THE GPS FOR 88R USING THE QUICK START MANUAL. I FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO READ THE MANUAL, ATTEMPT TO PROGRAM THE GPS AND MAINTAIN ALT AND HEADING. DISTR BY THE GPS I DRIFTED W AND FLEW OVER TSTC-WACO WHICH IS 25 NM FROM P-49 (E). WE WERE SOON INTERCEPTED BY AN F16. I TUNED THE RADIO TO 121.5 AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TUNE TO WACO APCH FOR INSTRUCTIONS. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO LAND AT WACO REGIONAL FOR FAA AND SECRET SVC INTERROGATION. I LEARNED THAT P-49 TFR WAS ACTIVATED THE DAY BEFORE. I AM FULLY AWARE OF P-49 AND IT WAS MY ERROR FOR FAILING TO CHK ITS STATUS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT P-49 BE MADE 30 NM RADIUS AS LONG AS THERE IS A GOV OFFICIAL.
