Narrative:

Flight from mia-rdu deviating for WX east of crg. Told by ATC to turn heading 270 degrees, or declare emergency (7700) due to warning areas hot. Deviating east of long mostly solid radar turns, 270 degree heading turned us between 2 cells rather close (visually looked poor), we turned to 300 degrees and asked jax if that would work. He said 270 degrees then 260 degrees and we turned to 260 degrees. At no time did we enter warning area and ZJX did a good job. The event highlights the need for ATC to have the ability to control that airspace in these rare sits. If allowed to continue north, no problems would have occurred.
