Narrative:

I was taxiing from the ramp with ground when I missed my turn. I was given instructions to turn left on taxiway right and hold short of the runway. After missing taxiway right the controller then told me to turn left on taxiway a and hold short of the runway. A jet had just taken off when he gave the instructions. I turned left on taxiway a and crossed the runway. I read back what I heard and the controller did not hear me read back the hold short instructions. Some of the contributing factors were the facts that it was a busy time at the airport, it was night, and I was unfamiliar with the airport. The problem came from a breakdown in communication. I did not hear the hold short instruction and he did not hear me miss the readback.
