Narrative:

Departing runway 25R at phx, we are on climb on 'dryheat SID.' aircraft is in the clean confign and departure control has me on 140 degree heading. I am the PF. Departure begins to make request and then changes mind saying 'stay on this heading until I have more altitude separation.' I then go from a managed speed of 250 KTS to selected 230 KTS in order to gain more altitude. Shortly thereafter the TCASII alert sounds 'traffic, traffic.' I can't see the vertical separation as the aircraft is positioned too close to my representation aircraft on navigation display. I then hear TCASII command 'climb' and I disconnect the autoplt and place vertical speed in green area. The first officer notifies departure that we have an 'RA and are climbing.' at this point the altitude alerter is going off as we are passing through 12300 ft (approximately). I believe approach asks 'you got a climb?' at this point, the first officer is asking me if we have lost communications as he is straining to point out traffic at our 8 O'clock position. This action on his part caused his ear mold tube to pull loose off his headset, rendering him unable to hear ATC. At this point, I look to my left and see traffic at my 8 O'clock position, at my approximately altitude of 11000 ft. ATC requests 'turn left direct to bayta intersection and climb to FL210, or you will be out of my airspace.' after checking for traffic, I comply with direct bayta and begin climb to FL210. On arrival at destination I contacted the supervisor at phx approach and discussed what had transpired. I explained that we had received a TCASII alert followed by a climb RA. He acknowledged this and said that 'no loss of separation had occurred.' bear in mind, that the above situation took place in a matter of seconds, and all of this was happening in less than the time it takes to read this. Alerters were going off, requests being made, and a loss of communications all at the same time.

Title: A320 DEPARTING PHX EXPERIENCES TCASII RA.

Narrative: DEPARTING RWY 25R AT PHX, WE ARE ON CLB ON 'DRYHEAT SID.' ACFT IS IN THE CLEAN CONFIGN AND DEP CTL HAS ME ON 140 DEG HDG. I AM THE PF. DEP BEGINS TO MAKE REQUEST AND THEN CHANGES MIND SAYING 'STAY ON THIS HEADING UNTIL I HAVE MORE ALT SEPARATION.' I THEN GO FROM A MANAGED SPD OF 250 KTS TO SELECTED 230 KTS IN ORDER TO GAIN MORE ALT. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE TCASII ALERT SOUNDS 'TFC, TFC.' I CAN'T SEE THE VERT SEPARATION AS THE ACFT IS POSITIONED TOO CLOSE TO MY REPRESENTATION ACFT ON NAV DISPLAY. I THEN HEAR TCASII COMMAND 'CLB' AND I DISCONNECT THE AUTOPLT AND PLACE VERT SPD IN GREEN AREA. THE FO NOTIFIES DEP THAT WE HAVE AN 'RA AND ARE CLBING.' AT THIS POINT THE ALT ALERTER IS GOING OFF AS WE ARE PASSING THROUGH 12300 FT (APPROX). I BELIEVE APCH ASKS 'YOU GOT A CLB?' AT THIS POINT, THE FO IS ASKING ME IF WE HAVE LOST COMS AS HE IS STRAINING TO POINT OUT TFC AT OUR 8 O'CLOCK POS. THIS ACTION ON HIS PART CAUSED HIS EAR MOLD TUBE TO PULL LOOSE OFF HIS HEADSET, RENDERING HIM UNABLE TO HEAR ATC. AT THIS POINT, I LOOK TO MY L AND SEE TFC AT MY 8 O'CLOCK POS, AT MY APPROX ALT OF 11000 FT. ATC REQUESTS 'TURN L DIRECT TO BAYTA INTXN AND CLB TO FL210, OR YOU WILL BE OUT OF MY AIRSPACE.' AFTER CHKING FOR TFC, I COMPLY WITH DIRECT BAYTA AND BEGIN CLB TO FL210. ON ARR AT DEST I CONTACTED THE SUPVR AT PHX APCH AND DISCUSSED WHAT HAD TRANSPIRED. I EXPLAINED THAT WE HAD RECEIVED A TCASII ALERT FOLLOWED BY A CLB RA. HE ACKNOWLEDGED THIS AND SAID THAT 'NO LOSS OF SEPARATION HAD OCCURRED.' BEAR IN MIND, THAT THE ABOVE SIT TOOK PLACE IN A MATTER OF SECONDS, AND ALL OF THIS WAS HAPPENING IN LESS THAN THE TIME IT TAKES TO READ THIS. ALERTERS WERE GOING OFF, REQUESTS BEING MADE, AND A LOSS OF COMS ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
