Narrative:

Requested to taxi to a short runway (runway 27) that is not used very often. We normally taxi on this runway from the long runway (runway 23). Then told to taxi to the short runway (runway 27), I taxied on the runway and then called tower for takeoff. Told tower I was on the runway and ready for takeoff. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: pilot was operating at tri and requested clearance for takeoff on runway 27 rather than runway 23. ATC controllers did not question the pilot's action. They just gave him takeoff clearance. Nothing further was said.
