Narrative:

Departed oak. On landing at ZZZ, normal reverse thrust applied on all engines. Shortly after moving reverse levers down at 80 KTS, the tower asked if we needed assistance, since he had seen parts fall off the aircraft. The #2 reverse unlock light came on at the same time. We cleared the runway, ran the appropriate checklist, and shut down #2 engine as a precaution. Parts of the left half of the #2 reverser were found on the runway (runway 4R). Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the engine reversers deployed with no warning, but with the thrust levers in idle for reverser stow, the #2 engine reverser pressure warning and the not stow warning were illuminated. The reporter said the engine was shut down on taxi into the gate. The reporter stated maintenance has not advised the crew of the corrective action and the primary cause.
