Narrative:

After departure from lga, 30 NM northwest of white intersection, climbing through 12500 ft MSL, heading 240 degrees at 250 KTS assigned with a clearance to 15000 ft, we initially had a TA of +2400 ft descending which rapidly turned to an RA, 'monitor vertical speed.' the last altitude difference we saw was +400 ft. We did see the traffic (looked like a cherokee) after arresting our climb rate. After clear of conflict, ny departure asked our assigned altitude. We responded, '15000 ft.' we were then cleared direct white intersection and climb to 17000 ft. No further incident.
