Narrative:

I was the captain, in the right seat, and was the PNF. The PF was under my supervision. We were on approach to st louis, mo, airport (stl), runway 12L. At the controller's request, we kept our airspeed about 170 KIAS as an air carrier aircraft was on our right side, instructed to land on runway 12R. The controller said they would have to send that aircraft around unless we kept our airspeed up. I maintained visual contact with that airplane. It was close by our right side, slightly behind our right wingtip. I was not comfortable about the spacing. I told the controller, 'we will stay on our side if he will stay on his side.' he responded that it should be no problem. Due to my concern, and not wanting to cause a delayed landing, I instructed the PF to maintain a speed greater than 160 KTS over the approach lights. I believed separation standards were being compromised, and assumed the controller wanted us on the extreme left side. Runway 13 is parallel to runways 12L/right. As we were being rushed, and concerned with separation, I mistakenly landed on runway 13, thinking it was runway 12L! I did not have time to rechk the airport diagram to determine that the far left runway is runway 13. I suggest 1) that runway 13 not be lighted to avoid confusion at night, and 2) the controllers be instructed to inform the pilot when they observe improper alignment on final, and 3) turboprop airspds used on final, not jet speed!

Title: MERLIN 3 FLC LANDS ON THE WRONG RWY AT STL.

I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE ABOUT THE SPACING. I TOLD THE CTLR, 'WE WILL STAY ON OUR SIDE IF HE WILL STAY ON HIS SIDE.' HE RESPONDED THAT IT SHOULD BE NO PROB. DUE TO MY CONCERN, AND NOT WANTING TO CAUSE A DELAYED LNDG, I INSTRUCTED THE PF TO MAINTAIN A SPD GREATER THAN 160 KTS OVER THE APCH LIGHTS.
