Narrative:

In cruise flight from nyc to lky in louisa, va, was near andrews AFB, md, monitoring radio frequency 121.5 and 127.7 when what I thought to be an ELT sound was heard on 121.5. I checked my ELT - it was not on. Sound grew louder until communication was impossible on either radio. Intercepted by F16 which crossed in front and accelerated vertically causing me to fly through his wake. Control laterally and pitch almost impossible. Up to 200 ft altitude deviation in a C172. Noise on 121.5 prevented communication. Recommend 121.5 be kept clear for communication. Jet pilots should be made aware of danger to light aircraft from jetblast and wake.

Narrative: IN CRUISE FLT FROM NYC TO LKY IN LOUISA, VA, WAS NEAR ANDREWS AFB, MD, MONITORING RADIO FREQ 121.5 AND 127.7 WHEN WHAT I THOUGHT TO BE AN ELT SOUND WAS HEARD ON 121.5. I CHKED MY ELT - IT WAS NOT ON. SOUND GREW LOUDER UNTIL COM WAS IMPOSSIBLE ON EITHER RADIO. INTERCEPTED BY F16 WHICH CROSSED IN FRONT AND ACCELERATED VERTLY CAUSING ME TO FLY THROUGH HIS WAKE. CTL LATERALLY AND PITCH ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. UP TO 200 FT ALTDEV IN A C172. NOISE ON 121.5 PREVENTED COM. RECOMMEND 121.5 BE KEPT CLR FOR COM. JET PLTS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF DANGER TO LIGHT ACFT FROM JETBLAST AND WAKE.
