Narrative:

I am employed in management. I was called to the gate to advise maintenance control and the mechanic performing the service as to the nature of magnetic chips found on the rgc oil system chip detector. I advised that the chips appeared to be flakes, and since there was no previous history, the aircraft could continue. I failed to advise that additional maintenance procedures (filter inspection) were required. The aircraft departed and flew for several hours without incident. The following day (jun/wed/02) when the incorrect procedures were discovered, the aircraft was 'parked' until the correct procedures were completed.
