Narrative:

I listened to the ATIS, then got clearance to taxi to the runway. I did not ask for intersection clearance (which I normally do). So just as I was getting ready to tell the tower that I was ready for takeoff, the tower called me and asked if I wanted an intersection clearance. I said 'roger.' my mistake was that I assumed that meant I could roll onto the runway at that time. I reviewed what I did. The problem was, I did not ask for intersection clearance, I was supposed to go all the way to the end of runway. This was my mistake, and I assumed I was getting takeoff clearance. I also reviewed this with my instructor. There was no traffic involved. It will not happen again.

Title: AN SMA PLT, TAXIING FOR TKOF AT ENA, TAXIED ONTO THE RWY ASSUMING AN INTXN TKOF CLRNC HAD BEEN GIVEN.

Narrative: I LISTENED TO THE ATIS, THEN GOT CLRNC TO TAXI TO THE RWY. I DID NOT ASK FOR INTXN CLRNC (WHICH I NORMALLY DO). SO JUST AS I WAS GETTING READY TO TELL THE TWR THAT I WAS READY FOR TKOF, THE TWR CALLED ME AND ASKED IF I WANTED AN INTXN CLRNC. I SAID 'ROGER.' MY MISTAKE WAS THAT I ASSUMED THAT MEANT I COULD ROLL ONTO THE RWY AT THAT TIME. I REVIEWED WHAT I DID. THE PROB WAS, I DID NOT ASK FOR INTXN CLRNC, I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF RWY. THIS WAS MY MISTAKE, AND I ASSUMED I WAS GETTING TKOF CLRNC. I ALSO REVIEWED THIS WITH MY INSTRUCTOR. THERE WAS NO TFC INVOLVED. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
