Narrative:

On visual approach to runway 29R at tus, we got an unsafe nose gear indication when the gear was selected down. We then departed the local traffic area and troubleshot the system per checklist 'landing gear will not extend.' we verified the light functioned via rotary test. The flaps selected 35 degrees did not produce a warning horn, but the indexer lights would not illuminate to confirm a gear safe position. After consulting the program manager and maintenance, we completed the emergency gear extension procedure (including the blow bottle). An emergency was declared and we requested the emergency vehicles. The landing was completed without incident.
