Narrative:

In late july the #3 cylinder exhaust valve broke. Today, 11/fri/01, was a clear beautiful VFR day so I decided to fly an hour to help break in the new cylinder. I flew from my home airport and since I fish in the river near YYY, I decided to follow highways to YYY and observe my fishing grounds from the air. I returned along the same route, somewhat more north of us highway, being very cautious to avoid the ZZZ controlled airspace. I had not yet flown an hour so I flew to ZZZ1 for a practice ILS approach. I monitored advisory frequency the entire flight since that is the advisory frequency for two other airports. I announced my maneuvering while near second airport. When I landed the ZZZ2 airport manager asked me to call the ZZZ tower, which I did. They asked me to call a supervisor at center. I don't recall which of these informed me that a restricted 10 mile airspace had been placed around a power plant, and as I had followed along us highway route I had violated that airspace. Center said I would be contacted in the next few days. I was following a current sectional which had no restr airspace. The recorded FSS WX for the route had no mention of additional restr airspace near that route. Because the WX was cavu and I thought I was on just a local flight I did not talk to a briefer nor did I file a flight plan. Although I don't usually talk to a briefer prior to a local warm-up flight, the ZZZ2 airport manger suggested to me afterwards that due to 09/tue/01 events it would be a good idea to always talk to a briefer prior to any flight, even if only in the local pattern. I will adopt that policy to avoid flying in restr airspace. I did not intentionally violate any airspace.

I RETURNED ALONG THE SAME ROUTE, SOMEWHAT MORE N OF US HWY, BEING VERY CAUTIOUS TO AVOID THE ZZZ CONTROLLED AIRSPACE. I HAD NOT YET FLOWN AN HOUR SO I FLEW TO ZZZ1 FOR A PRACTICE ILS APCH. I MONITORED ADVISORY FREQ THE ENTIRE FLT SINCE THAT IS THE ADVISORY FREQ FOR TWO OTHER ARPTS. I ANNOUNCED MY MANEUVERING WHILE NEAR SECOND ARPT. WHEN I LANDED THE ZZZ2 ARPT MANAGER ASKED ME TO CALL THE ZZZ TWR, WHICH I DID. THEY ASKED ME TO CALL A SUPVR AT CENTER. I DON'T RECALL WHICH OF THESE INFORMED ME THAT A RESTRICTED 10 MILE AIRSPACE HAD BEEN PLACED AROUND A PWR PLANT, AND AS I HAD FOLLOWED ALONG US HWY ROUTE I HAD VIOLATED THAT AIRSPACE. BECAUSE THE WX WAS CAVU AND I THOUGHT I WAS ON JUST A LOCAL FLT I DID NOT TALK TO A BRIEFER NOR DID I FILE A FLT PLAN. ALTHOUGH I DON'T USUALLY TALK TO A BRIEFER PRIOR TO A LOCAL WARM-UP FLT, THE ZZZ2 ARPT MANGER SUGGESTED TO ME AFTERWARDS THAT DUE TO 09/TUE/01 EVENTS IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO ALWAYS TALK TO A BRIEFER PRIOR TO ANY FLT, EVEN IF ONLY IN THE LOCAL PATTERN. I WILL ADOPT THAT POLICY TO AVOID FLYING IN RESTR AIRSPACE. I DID NOT INTENTIONALLY VIOLATE ANY AIRSPACE.
