Narrative:

Brief narrative not used. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that during his flight at 3000 ft, the engine made a loud bang then started vibrating. His intent was to land at KQ99. However, he was too high for the runway, so elected to land in a field just south of KQ99. Subsequent to the emergency landing, it was discovered that the engine had thrown a rocker arm. Further inspection of the engine is to follow. No injuries or damage were incurred.

Title: A C172 PLT EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF ENG PWR, MAKING AN EMER LNDG IN A FIELD.

Narrative: BRIEF NARRATIVE NOT USED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT DURING HIS FLT AT 3000 FT, THE ENG MADE A LOUD BANG THEN STARTED VIBRATING. HIS INTENT WAS TO LAND AT KQ99. HOWEVER, HE WAS TOO HIGH FOR THE RWY, SO ELECTED TO LAND IN A FIELD JUST S OF KQ99. SUBSEQUENT TO THE EMER LNDG, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENG HAD THROWN A ROCKER ARM. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE ENG IS TO FOLLOW. NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE WERE INCURRED.
