Narrative:

This was an instructional circumstance. The student was not performing his task of negotiating the traffic pattern procedures during landing practice. This student has logged approximately 4 hours of dual to date. I should have taken the student to the practice area as soon as I felt he was not performing to standard procedures, but this was our first circuit. Thinking we had rectified our lack of procedures on downwind the student turned base added second notch of flaps and began pulling up on the nose of the aircraft. As I began applying nose down pressure to the control wheel (after pointing out twice the deteriorating airspeed) the student began to resist me. I asked twice for him to release the controls and he finally did. By this time we had passed final for runway 30L and had incurred on runway 30C. The hawker sidley jet that was on final as well, took evasive action moving left and overflying runway 30L. He overtook us and we then went around and made a full stop landing. I spoke with gateway tower immediately after parking the aircraft. No paperwork was to be filed regarding the incident.

Narrative: THIS WAS AN INSTRUCTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCE. THE STUDENT WAS NOT PERFORMING HIS TASK OF NEGOTIATING THE TFC PATTERN PROCS DURING LNDG PRACTICE. THIS STUDENT HAS LOGGED APPROX 4 HRS OF DUAL TO DATE. I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE STUDENT TO THE PRACTICE AREA AS SOON AS I FELT HE WAS NOT PERFORMING TO STANDARD PROCS, BUT THIS WAS OUR FIRST CIRCUIT. THINKING WE HAD RECTIFIED OUR LACK OF PROCS ON DOWNWIND THE STUDENT TURNED BASE ADDED SECOND NOTCH OF FLAPS AND BEGAN PULLING UP ON THE NOSE OF THE ACFT. AS I BEGAN APPLYING NOSE DOWN PRESSURE TO THE CTL WHEEL (AFTER POINTING OUT TWICE THE DETERIORATING AIRSPD) THE STUDENT BEGAN TO RESIST ME. I ASKED TWICE FOR HIM TO RELEASE THE CTLS AND HE FINALLY DID. BY THIS TIME WE HAD PASSED FINAL FOR RWY 30L AND HAD INCURRED ON RWY 30C. THE HAWKER SIDLEY JET THAT WAS ON FINAL AS WELL, TOOK EVASIVE ACTION MOVING L AND OVERFLYING RWY 30L. HE OVERTOOK US AND WE THEN WENT AROUND AND MADE A FULL STOP LNDG. I SPOKE WITH GATEWAY TWR IMMEDIATELY AFTER PARKING THE ACFT. NO PAPERWORK WAS TO BE FILED REGARDING THE INCIDENT.
