Narrative:

I returned to our C182 at hailey airport for the return trip to boise. Facing away from the runway, the plane was parked 40 yards from the runway and about 20 yards from the highway running parallel to the runway. My parking place was selected earlier by local personnel when I landed and taxied to the area directed by ground. I preflted, did a run-up, and wheeled the plane 180 degrees in position. My husband (a student pilot with about 60 hours) then called hailey ground while I listened. Hailey ground advised me to taxi across the runway for run-up. While I taxied down towards the right end of the runway and past the jets, my husband advised hailey ground that I had already done a run-up and was ready for takeoff. On turning towards the runway, I stopped short of the runway to look both ways and await hailey ground. While stopped., hailey ground answered back to contact hailey tower, which I did while still stopped short of the runway. Hailey tower indicated that I had done an incursion towards the runway. My husband then advised hailey tower that I was following instructions as we understood them from hailey ground, that we thought hailey ground asked us to cross the runway for run-up. I explained I stopped short of the runway for permission to take off since I had already done my run-up. I also explained I may have misunderstood hailey ground. Hailey tower then gave me permission to take off. I learned from this incident that I should not leave the taxiway to approach the runway without reconfirming with ground my position and intent before making an incursion off the taxiway and into the runway area. I am not familiar with the hailey airport and do not recall if I crossed a solid yellow line with stripes on the far side. I did not have a layout of the hailey airport and taxiway with labels. I may have misunderstood or misheard what hailey ground asked me to cross for the run-up and will be sure I am clear in the future before a possible incursion.

Title: A C182 PVT PLT CROSSES THE HOLD SHORT LINE WHILE AWAITING A FREQ CHANGE AND TKOF CLRNC AT SUN, ID.

Narrative: I RETURNED TO OUR C182 AT HAILEY ARPT FOR THE RETURN TRIP TO BOISE. FACING AWAY FROM THE RWY, THE PLANE WAS PARKED 40 YARDS FROM THE RWY AND ABOUT 20 YARDS FROM THE HWY RUNNING PARALLEL TO THE RWY. MY PARKING PLACE WAS SELECTED EARLIER BY LCL PERSONNEL WHEN I LANDED AND TAXIED TO THE AREA DIRECTED BY GND. I PREFLTED, DID A RUN-UP, AND WHEELED THE PLANE 180 DEGS IN POS. MY HUSBAND (A STUDENT PLT WITH ABOUT 60 HRS) THEN CALLED HAILEY GND WHILE I LISTENED. HAILEY GND ADVISED ME TO TAXI ACROSS THE RWY FOR RUN-UP. WHILE I TAXIED DOWN TOWARDS THE R END OF THE RWY AND PAST THE JETS, MY HUSBAND ADVISED HAILEY GND THAT I HAD ALREADY DONE A RUN-UP AND WAS READY FOR TKOF. ON TURNING TOWARDS THE RWY, I STOPPED SHORT OF THE RWY TO LOOK BOTH WAYS AND AWAIT HAILEY GND. WHILE STOPPED., HAILEY GND ANSWERED BACK TO CONTACT HAILEY TWR, WHICH I DID WHILE STILL STOPPED SHORT OF THE RWY. HAILEY TWR INDICATED THAT I HAD DONE AN INCURSION TOWARDS THE RWY. MY HUSBAND THEN ADVISED HAILEY TWR THAT I WAS FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AS WE UNDERSTOOD THEM FROM HAILEY GND, THAT WE THOUGHT HAILEY GND ASKED US TO CROSS THE RWY FOR RUN-UP. I EXPLAINED I STOPPED SHORT OF THE RWY FOR PERMISSION TO TAKE OFF SINCE I HAD ALREADY DONE MY RUN-UP. I ALSO EXPLAINED I MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD HAILEY GND. HAILEY TWR THEN GAVE ME PERMISSION TO TAKE OFF. I LEARNED FROM THIS INCIDENT THAT I SHOULD NOT LEAVE THE TXWY TO APCH THE RWY WITHOUT RECONFIRMING WITH GND MY POS AND INTENT BEFORE MAKING AN INCURSION OFF THE TXWY AND INTO THE RWY AREA. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE HAILEY ARPT AND DO NOT RECALL IF I CROSSED A SOLID YELLOW LINE WITH STRIPES ON THE FAR SIDE. I DID NOT HAVE A LAYOUT OF THE HAILEY ARPT AND TXWY WITH LABELS. I MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD OR MISHEARD WHAT HAILEY GND ASKED ME TO CROSS FOR THE RUN-UP AND WILL BE SURE I AM CLR IN THE FUTURE BEFORE A POSSIBLE INCURSION.
