Narrative:

Location: ttpp. After takeoff, at about 400 ft AGL, we received the following instruction from position tower: 'climb FL350, passing 4100 ft turn left, intercept piarco 020 degree radial, cross 80 DME piarco at 16000 ft or higher, maintain 020 degree course till passing FL250.' essentially, this was as filed except for the climb to FL350. We then spent 5 mins talking with the tower controller who was adamant that the clearance be read back verbatim. We never argued with the tower controller as we felt that would have been wasted effort. However, we could not get a handoff to departure without the verbatim readback. Truthfully, I was laughing so hard at the absurdity, that I was of little help to the first officer. I retracted the flaps, and accomplished all other after takeoff duties as the first officer was doing all he could to talk with position tower. Obviously, a little bit of training as to the timing of this kind of clearance is warranted.

Title: THE COCKPIT COORD MGMNT IN A B757-200 FLT FALLS APART AS THE CAPT REACTS IN A NON PROFESSIONAL WAY TO AN ATC REQUEST TO REPEAT ALL OF THE CLRNC FRO A DEP PROC FROM TTPP, FO.

Narrative: LOCATION: TTPP. AFTER TKOF, AT ABOUT 400 FT AGL, WE RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTION FROM POS TWR: 'CLB FL350, PASSING 4100 FT TURN L, INTERCEPT PIARCO 020 DEG RADIAL, CROSS 80 DME PIARCO AT 16000 FT OR HIGHER, MAINTAIN 020 DEG COURSE TILL PASSING FL250.' ESSENTIALLY, THIS WAS AS FILED EXCEPT FOR THE CLB TO FL350. WE THEN SPENT 5 MINS TALKING WITH THE TWR CTLR WHO WAS ADAMANT THAT THE CLRNC BE READ BACK VERBATIM. WE NEVER ARGUED WITH THE TWR CTLR AS WE FELT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN WASTED EFFORT. HOWEVER, WE COULD NOT GET A HDOF TO DEP WITHOUT THE VERBATIM READBACK. TRUTHFULLY, I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD AT THE ABSURDITY, THAT I WAS OF LITTLE HELP TO THE FO. I RETRACTED THE FLAPS, AND ACCOMPLISHED ALL OTHER AFTER TKOF DUTIES AS THE FO WAS DOING ALL HE COULD TO TALK WITH POS TWR. OBVIOUSLY, A LITTLE BIT OF TRAINING AS TO THE TIMING OF THIS KIND OF CLRNC IS WARRANTED.
