Narrative:

We departed the main terminal area at XA49 am local and announced on frequency that we were taxiing to runway 14 for departure. The wind was calm and another company learjet had just departed using runway 14. Captain was operating the unicom frequency while the co-pilot talked to mcguire approach for a clearance. While taxiing we heard one aircraft arriving for runway 14 and one for runway 32. I informed the aircraft inbound for runway 32 that another was inbound for runway 14 and we intended to use runway 14. He changed his plans and announced that he would be inbound for runway 14. We completed our taxi checks and were released by mcguire clearance with a 2 minute void time. After hearing one aircraft turning base for runway 14 we announced we were departing runway 14. The other inbound aircraft was seen by us overflying the field at altitude and was no factor. We were well into the takeoff roll when we noticed a helicopter crossing runway 14 from right to left at low altitude. We aborted the takeoff at approximately vr speed to avoid a potential mid-air collision. We had no room to fly under the helicopter, because he was so low to the ground. We estimated that he was about 100 ft AGL. Had we rotated we would have been on a collision course with the helicopter. After stopping the aircraft we noticed the helicopter at about our 10 O'clock position, departed the area to the northeast. We informed the helicopter that we had just rejected the takeoff because he had been in our flight path and he responded 'we didn't hear you.' we taxied clear of the runway, did the after landing checklist and returned to the ramp, we cancelled IFR with mcguire. They informed us that they were not in contact with the helicopter involved. The aircraft who was on base when we took off said that he would 'land short' on runway 14, while we were still sitting on the runway. We asked him to please not do this as it wouldn't be safe. Note: please put a tower at this airport or restrict it to small propellers, so we don't have to fly in there anymore. It is very dangerous, just like bermuda dunes (udd).

Title: A LEAR 45 FLT CREW ABORTS THEIR TKOF WHEN NOTING HELI CROSSING THEIR INTENDED FLT PATH, 100 FT ABOVE RWY 14 AT BLM NJ.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED THE MAIN TERMINAL AREA AT XA49 AM LOCAL AND ANNOUNCED ON FREQ THAT WE WERE TAXIING TO RWY 14 FOR DEP. THE WIND WAS CALM AND ANOTHER COMPANY LEARJET HAD JUST DEPARTED USING RWY 14. CAPT WAS OPERATING THE UNICOM FREQ WHILE THE CO-PLT TALKED TO MCGUIRE APCH FOR A CLRNC. WHILE TAXIING WE HEARD ONE ACFT ARRIVING FOR RWY 14 AND ONE FOR RWY 32. I INFORMED THE ACFT INBOUND FOR RWY 32 THAT ANOTHER WAS INBOUND FOR RWY 14 AND WE INTENDED TO USE RWY 14. HE CHANGED HIS PLANS AND ANNOUNCED THAT HE WOULD BE INBOUND FOR RWY 14. WE COMPLETED OUR TAXI CHECKS AND WERE RELEASED BY MCGUIRE CLRNC WITH A 2 MINUTE VOID TIME. AFTER HEARING ONE ACFT TURNING BASE FOR RWY 14 WE ANNOUNCED WE WERE DEPARTING RWY 14. THE OTHER INBOUND ACFT WAS SEEN BY US OVERFLYING THE FIELD AT ALTITUDE AND WAS NO FACTOR. WE WERE WELL INTO THE TKOF ROLL WHEN WE NOTICED A HELI CROSSING RWY 14 FROM R TO L AT LOW ALTITUDE. WE ABORTED THE TKOF AT APPROXIMATELY VR SPEED TO AVOID A POTENTIAL MID-AIR COLLISION. WE HAD NO ROOM TO FLY UNDER THE HELI, BECAUSE HE WAS SO LOW TO THE GND. WE ESTIMATED THAT HE WAS ABOUT 100 FT AGL. HAD WE ROTATED WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH THE HELI. AFTER STOPPING THE ACFT WE NOTICED THE HELI AT ABOUT OUR 10 O'CLOCK POSITION, DEPARTED THE AREA TO THE NE. WE INFORMED THE HELI THAT WE HAD JUST REJECTED THE TKOF BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN IN OUR FLT PATH AND HE RESPONDED 'WE DIDN'T HEAR YOU.' WE TAXIED CLR OF THE RWY, DID THE AFTER LNDG CHECKLIST AND RETURNED TO THE RAMP, WE CANCELLED IFR WITH MCGUIRE. THEY INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE NOT IN CONTACT WITH THE HELI INVOLVED. THE ACFT WHO WAS ON BASE WHEN WE TOOK OFF SAID THAT HE WOULD 'LAND SHORT' ON RWY 14, WHILE WE WERE STILL SITTING ON THE RWY. WE ASKED HIM TO PLEASE NOT DO THIS AS IT WOULDN'T BE SAFE. NOTE: PLEASE PUT A TWR AT THIS ARPT OR RESTRICT IT TO SMALL PROPS, SO WE DON'T HAVE TO FLY IN THERE ANYMORE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, JUST LIKE BERMUDA DUNES (UDD).
