Narrative:

After dropping off patient and returning to home base in ZZZ, I noticed a C172 crossing in front of me from left to right at same altitude about 50 ft away. I banked aircraft heavily and watched my main rotor system pass over the tail of the other aircraft. I turned around and contacted other pilot on 122.8, got his tail number and phone number. Later, during telephone conversation, he said he never saw me, he only 'heard and felt vibration' off of my helicopter as it passed over him. If I had not taken evasive action, we would have collided. Today was our 'lucky' day.
