Narrative:

Inbound to tomsn the arrival, it was necessary to deviate around cumulo nimbus. ZDV said 'we'll send you over to approach early' when we told them it didn't look like we could deviate and make it around to tomsn. In the process of deviating, we got off the descent profile, and in trying to regain the profile, missed the leveloff in the vicinity of tomsn by 350 ft. Corrected immediately back to FL190, and slowed then to 250 KTS.

Title: A320 CREW WAS CONCERNED THEY DID NOT COMPLY WITH A STAR ALT XING RESTR, WHICH DID NOT APPLY, WHILE BEING CLRED TO DEVIATE FOR TSTMS.

Narrative: INBOUND TO TOMSN THE ARR, IT WAS NECESSARY TO DEVIATE AROUND CUMULO NIMBUS. ZDV SAID 'WE'LL SEND YOU OVER TO APCH EARLY' WHEN WE TOLD THEM IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE WE COULD DEVIATE AND MAKE IT AROUND TO TOMSN. IN THE PROCESS OF DEVIATING, WE GOT OFF THE DSCNT PROFILE, AND IN TRYING TO REGAIN THE PROFILE, MISSED THE LEVELOFF IN THE VICINITY OF TOMSN BY 350 FT. CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY BACK TO FL190, AND SLOWED THEN TO 250 KTS.
