Narrative:

On our initial taxi call, the ground controller cleared us to taxi to runway 1. I intended to taxi taxiway C, taxiway B, taxiway a to runway 1. Somehow I missed the taxi sign and turn for taxiway B. Instead of stopping and asking for progressive taxi, I continued. My first officer and I cleared each direction before crossing the off-duty runway 4/22. It was at this time that ground control called and told us we were not cleared to cross the off-duty runway. We then got taxi instructions to taxi taxiway C, taxiway a to runway 1. I take full responsibility for not stopping and asking for progressive taxi. A KC135 was doing touch-and-goes on runway 1 and at no time were we unsafe.
