Narrative:
Landed on runway 30R when cleared to runway 30L. Following 3 hour flight across desert, the ATIS is difficult to copy until too close to the airport and this caused a rush to contact the tower and get a clearance. Also, distraction by passenger.

Title: SMA PLT LANDS ON THE WRONG PARALLEL RWY TO WHICH CLRED.
Narrative: LANDED ON RWY 30R WHEN CLRED TO RWY 30L. FOLLOWING 3 HR FLT ACROSS DESERT, THE ATIS IS DIFFICULT TO COPY UNTIL TOO CLOSE TO THE ARPT AND THIS CAUSED A RUSH TO CONTACT THE TWR AND GET A CLRNC. ALSO, DISTR BY PAX.
