Narrative:

Due to air conditioning pack problems, aircraft began losing pressurization at cruise altitude. Captain declared an emergency and notified ATC as soon as possible that we were descending to 10000 ft MSL. We descended initially from FL350 toward FL240 under ATC clearance. Due to rapid rise in cabin altitude and ATC frequency congestion, we continued descent through FL240 (assigned flight level) toward 10000 ft MSL. No traffic on TCASII or visually. Cleared to 10000 ft at approximately FL230.
