Narrative:

Given a restr to cross 40 mi south of eno at 11000 ft. As I eloquently explained to the new first officer how, in the northeast corridor, it was best to start down, then put the restr in the FMS. I proceeded to put in 30 mi south of eno at 11000 ft. Realized error too late, missed crossing by 7 mi. Do not believe any conflict. Center was made aware we would miss restr.
