Narrative:

We arrived at the aircraft to find mechanics had found a leak in the nose strut. They svced the strut, checked for leaks, and then signed off the logbook. We boarded passenger and taxied to runway 26L. After takeoff, the nose landing did not retract. We returned to the airport, extended the gear normally, and made an uneventful landing. We did declare an emergency. After arriving at the gate, we were advised by maintenance that the nose strut had collapsed.
