Narrative:
Air carrier X was called radar contact by the radar associate. Radar associate informed me that air carrier X needed to be given preferential routing. I also gave air carrier X a beacon code change. I saw air carrier X in the flash mode. I thought air carrier X was flashing to the marlington (37) sector. Air carrier X was never automated by me. ZTL took the handoff back and the data tag dropped off. I was extremely busy with other sits and did not notice air carrier X was gone. Air carrier X violated sector 37.
