Narrative:
Taxiing out of ramp area contacted ground control for taxi clearance. Ground instructed to taxi via taxiway M to runway 27R give way to aircraft into ramp (the one we were exiting). I saw an aircraft that I thought was our traffic that was halfway in the ramp. I taxied onto the taxiway and was instructed that I didn't give way to the traffic assigned. I did not notice the traffic far down the taxiway at night and vision being blocked by the aircraft I thought we were assigned give way to. There was no danger of an incursion. We were issued a new taxi clearance and continued the taxi without incident.
