Narrative:

While taxiing to runway 35 at pns, inadvertently crossed runway 35 at intersection of runway 35 and txwys C2 and A4. I was cleared to taxi from GA parking area to runway 35 by ground control, and assumed I was cleared to cross runway 35 at intersection C2/A4 and then proceed south on taxiway a to reach threshold of runway 35. I was informed that I did not have clearance to cross runway 35 shortly after reaching intersection A4 by ground control. Evidently, ground control intended for me to hold short of runway 35, but I did not hear such an instruction. There was no other traffic landing or departing runway 35 at the time, which I verified visually before crossing. Both ground and departure frequencys at pns have bad audio distortion. My radios received all other facilities' xmissions clearly during the 700 mi round trip from DCU to pns and back. Ground (121.9) and departure (119.0) transmitters at pns need work.

Title: A C172 PLT CROSSED A RWY HE WAS TO HOLD SHORT OF DURING TAXI AT PNS, FL.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING TO RWY 35 AT PNS, INADVERTENTLY CROSSED RWY 35 AT INTXN OF RWY 35 AND TXWYS C2 AND A4. I WAS CLRED TO TAXI FROM GA PARKING AREA TO RWY 35 BY GND CTL, AND ASSUMED I WAS CLRED TO CROSS RWY 35 AT INTXN C2/A4 AND THEN PROCEED S ON TXWY A TO REACH THRESHOLD OF RWY 35. I WAS INFORMED THAT I DID NOT HAVE CLRNC TO CROSS RWY 35 SHORTLY AFTER REACHING INTXN A4 BY GND CTL. EVIDENTLY, GND CTL INTENDED FOR ME TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 35, BUT I DID NOT HEAR SUCH AN INSTRUCTION. THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC LNDG OR DEPARTING RWY 35 AT THE TIME, WHICH I VERIFIED VISUALLY BEFORE XING. BOTH GND AND DEP FREQS AT PNS HAVE BAD AUDIO DISTORTION. MY RADIOS RECEIVED ALL OTHER FACILITIES' XMISSIONS CLRLY DURING THE 700 MI ROUND TRIP FROM DCU TO PNS AND BACK. GND (121.9) AND DEP (119.0) XMITTERS AT PNS NEED WORK.
