Narrative:
ATC cleared us to cross aml VORTAC at 8000 ft. 1/2 NM from aml, I noticed we were at 9000 ft with a tailwind. We were attempting to slow to 250 KTS below 10000 ft. With interphone call from flight attendant, both first officer and I were somewhat distraction.
