Narrative:

During a maintenance check, I inadvertently taxied onto the active runway 26. I was paying attention to trim tab control adjustment. I was on tower frequency (124.95). However, even though no traffic was on frequency talking to tower I should have called tower that I was ready for high speed taxi. I simply blanked my mind from talking to tower (I guess since there was no other talk on the radio I became over engrossed in the trim tab calibration). I had a clearance from ground to taxi to runway 26 and somehow I ended turning right onto it. I have been flying for over 25 yrs and this is the first time I did such a foolish thing. I wish ground would have said something to me to wake me up. Dumbest thing I have done in a long time.

Title: BE24 PLT ENTERED RWY WITHOUT CONTACTING TWR.

Narrative: DURING A MAINT CHK, I INADVERTENTLY TAXIED ONTO THE ACTIVE RWY 26. I WAS PAYING ATTN TO TRIM TAB CTL ADJUSTMENT. I WAS ON TWR FREQ (124.95). HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH NO TFC WAS ON FREQ TALKING TO TWR I SHOULD HAVE CALLED TWR THAT I WAS READY FOR HIGH SPD TAXI. I SIMPLY BLANKED MY MIND FROM TALKING TO TWR (I GUESS SINCE THERE WAS NO OTHER TALK ON THE RADIO I BECAME OVER ENGROSSED IN THE TRIM TAB CALIBRATION). I HAD A CLRNC FROM GND TO TAXI TO RWY 26 AND SOMEHOW I ENDED TURNING RIGHT ONTO IT. I HAVE BEEN FLYING FOR OVER 25 YRS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I DID SUCH A FOOLISH THING. I WISH GND WOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING TO ME TO WAKE ME UP. DUMBEST THING I HAVE DONE IN A LONG TIME.
