Narrative:

Landed west side at dfw. Tower said 'taxi sbound then use the alpha bridge for spot 53, ground 121.65 on the east side.' went over alpha bridge, but couldn't get a word in edgewise. Held short of taxiway B until I could contact them. Gave way to an rj into spot 53 while waiting. Controller sounded surprised or miffed, or one of the two, when we finally got him. Cleared us into spot 53, contact ramp. This is just a cya maneuver, I don't think we did anything wrong.
