Aircraft xyz was flown with the fuel autofill system inoperative. It was discovered that when deferred, the incorrect 'MEL' reference was used. Pilot operating procedures on 'the correct MEL 28-6 none required.' pilot operating procedures on the incorrect MEL 28-20 none required.

Title: AN MD80 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE FUEL AUTO FILL SYS INOP, BUT USED THE WRONG MEL REF.
