Narrative:

After receiving a clearance to cross 40 mi south of cgt at 12000 ft, we entered an area of virga and began to encounter light to moderate turbulence. We proceeded to secure the passenger cabin and warn the flight attendants by having them take their seats. As we finished that, our FMC told us we were 4000 ft high on the descent profile. We deployed speed brakes, initiated maximum rate of descent and advised ZAU we would be high. ATC advised only to give a good rate down to 10000 ft. We were able to cross our fix at 11000 ft. Rest of flight normal. No conflicts or traffic at our descent fix.
