Narrative:

Approximately 30 NM south of flo proceeding direct to (flo) at FL330. Captain was PF. PNF noticed engine #2 (right engine) oil pressure fluctuating. A check of all engine instruments showed engine #2 oil quantity decreasing and oil pressure decreasing. PNF accomplished the low oil pressure light/indication procedure. During this time the #2 engine oil pressure was fluctuating between 36 psi and 30 psi. The low oil pressure oil light illuminated and the oil quantity gauge was slightly above '0.' the PF declared an emergency and requested a descent to FL180. The PNF accomplished the engine failure/shutdown checklist and secured the engine. The aircraft diverted to rdu. A single-engine overweight landing was accomplished at rdu on runway 5L. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the cause of the loss of oil pressure and quantity was a damaged engine driven fuel pump gearbox seal. The reporter said the fuel control was replaced on the overnight layover and when reinstalling the engine driven pump and attached fuel control the seal was damaged.

Title: A B737-200 IN CRUISE AT FL330 DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO #2 ENG LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE AND QUANTITY CAUSED BY A DAMAGED FUEL PUMP SEAL.

Narrative: APPROX 30 NM S OF FLO PROCEEDING DIRECT TO (FLO) AT FL330. CAPT WAS PF. PNF NOTICED ENG #2 (R ENG) OIL PRESSURE FLUCTUATING. A CHK OF ALL ENG INSTS SHOWED ENG #2 OIL QUANTITY DECREASING AND OIL PRESSURE DECREASING. PNF ACCOMPLISHED THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT/INDICATION PROC. DURING THIS TIME THE #2 ENG OIL PRESSURE WAS FLUCTUATING BTWN 36 PSI AND 30 PSI. THE LOW OIL PRESSURE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE OIL QUANTITY GAUGE WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE '0.' THE PF DECLARED AN EMER AND REQUESTED A DSCNT TO FL180. THE PNF ACCOMPLISHED THE ENG FAILURE/SHUTDOWN CHKLIST AND SECURED THE ENG. THE ACFT DIVERTED TO RDU. A SINGLE-ENG OVERWT LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED AT RDU ON RWY 5L. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE CAUSE OF THE LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE AND QUANTITY WAS A DAMAGED ENG DRIVEN FUEL PUMP GEARBOX SEAL. THE RPTR SAID THE FUEL CTL WAS REPLACED ON THE OVERNIGHT LAYOVER AND WHEN REINSTALLING THE ENG DRIVEN PUMP AND ATTACHED FUEL CTL THE SEAL WAS DAMAGED.
