Narrative:

Told to taxi to runway 5R while taxiing around 5L (approach end) we were looking for hold short lines, none exist. One past approach end of 5L going to 5R then I notice I was on approach end of 5R (not on runway, but taxiway that takes you to approach end of 5R) the taxi line takes you to end of runway via the centerline. So you taxi probably 500 ft on taxi centerline before it turns into runway centerline. We were stopped probably 300 ft or more before beginning of runway. The controller told us we were on runway. Fact is, we were on taxi centerline leading to beginning of runway. Probably 300 to 500 ft short of beginning of runway 5R. Contributing factors: there are no visible hold short lines prior to 5R, the language dialect and radio transmitter was very garbled there was no aircraft infringement. After the discussion from controller he then cleared us for takeoff. End of ordeal!

Title: DC-9 CREW HAD RWY INCURSION AT MMMX.

Narrative: TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 5R WHILE TAXIING AROUND 5L (APCH END) WE WERE LOOKING FOR HOLD SHORT LINES, NONE EXIST. ONE PAST APCH END OF 5L GOING TO 5R THEN I NOTICE I WAS ON APCH END OF 5R (NOT ON RWY, BUT TAXIWAY THAT TAKES YOU TO APCH END OF 5R) THE TAXI LINE TAKES YOU TO END OF RWY VIA THE CENTERLINE. SO YOU TAXI PROBABLY 500 FT ON TAXI CENTERLINE BEFORE IT TURNS INTO RWY CENTERLINE. WE WERE STOPPED PROBABLY 300 FT OR MORE BEFORE BEGINNING OF RWY. THE CTLR TOLD US WE WERE ON RWY. FACT IS, WE WERE ON TAXI CENTERLINE LEADING TO BEGINNING OF RWY. PROBABLY 300 TO 500 FT SHORT OF BEGINNING OF RWY 5R. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: THERE ARE NO VISIBLE HOLD SHORT LINES PRIOR TO 5R, THE LANGUAGE DIALECT AND RADIO TRANSMITTER WAS VERY GARBLED THERE WAS NO ACFT INFRINGEMENT. AFTER THE DISCUSSION FROM CTLR HE THEN CLEARED US FOR TKOF. END OF ORDEAL!
