Narrative:

I was on an IFR plan bow direct tys. I had L20 chart and L18 chart, but did not have L14 chart. We had charts for original plan, but because of bad WX we had to file alternate plan. We could not buy L14 at our home FBO. We flew bow direct lal direct gnv direct gsf direct mai direct rrs. We planned to tgf then rmg, but needed L14 information. I asked laryns approach (spelling?) for alternate clearance rrs direct csg direct rmg which did not require L14. They approved the clearance. ZTL then commanded clearance to direct hefin intersection then rmg. This required L14 information to find hefin. I told ATC I did not have L14 information. I used atlanta sectional and flew to hefin then rmg without problem. I offered to change route to stay on IFR charts I had, but he did not require it. He did not seem to be upset, but I wanted to report the problem.

Title: C182 PLT FILED AN IFR FLT PLAN WITHOUT HAVING ADEQUATE IFR CHARTS ABOARD THE ACFT.

Narrative: I WAS ON AN IFR PLAN BOW DIRECT TYS. WE PLANNED TO TGF THEN RMG, BUT NEEDED L14 INFO. I ASKED LARYNS APCH (SPELLING?) FOR ALTERNATE CLRNC RRS DIRECT CSG DIRECT RMG WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE L14. THEY APPROVED THE CLRNC. ZTL THEN COMMANDED CLRNC TO DIRECT HEFIN INTXN THEN RMG. THIS REQUIRED L14 INFO TO FIND HEFIN. I TOLD ATC I DID NOT HAVE L14 INFO. I USED ATLANTA SECTIONAL AND FLEW TO HEFIN THEN RMG WITHOUT PROB. I OFFERED TO CHANGE RTE TO STAY ON IFR CHARTS I HAD, BUT HE DID NOT REQUIRE IT. HE DID NOT SEEM TO BE UPSET, BUT I WANTED TO RPT THE PROB.
