Narrative:
I was following a casa CA212 for a prearranged formation landing at sebastiana airport (X26). Upon completing a drop of skydivers over X26, I was close to the preceding aircraft but felt there was adequate room. When the casa landed, it decelerated faster than anticipated (I expected a long rollout), so I elected to land on the grass on the side of the runway to avoid any conflict or contact. I should have given the casa more room and briefed the landing a lot better (rollout). I should have made a go around at the first indication of a possible conflict. There was no damage to the aircraft or airport.

Title: A DHC6-200 PLT LANDS TOO CLOSE TO A PRECEDING CASA-212 ON A PREARRANGED FORMATION LNDG AND IS FORCED TO SIDESTEP FOR A LNDG ON THE GRASS, OFF THE RWY AT X26, FL.
Narrative: I WAS FOLLOWING A CASA CA212 FOR A PREARRANGED FORMATION LNDG AT SEBASTIANA ARPT (X26). UPON COMPLETING A DROP OF SKYDIVERS OVER X26, I WAS CLOSE TO THE PRECEDING ACFT BUT FELT THERE WAS ADEQUATE ROOM. WHEN THE CASA LANDED, IT DECELERATED FASTER THAN ANTICIPATED (I EXPECTED A LONG ROLLOUT), SO I ELECTED TO LAND ON THE GRASS ON THE SIDE OF THE RWY TO AVOID ANY CONFLICT OR CONTACT. I SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THE CASA MORE ROOM AND BRIEFED THE LNDG A LOT BETTER (ROLLOUT). I SHOULD HAVE MADE A GAR AT THE FIRST INDICATION OF A POSSIBLE CONFLICT. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT OR ARPT.
