Narrative:

Flight attendant paged us to tell us of smell of smoke in cabin. First officer also smelled it and shortly I smelled it. I thought it smelled like cigarette smoke. Had flight attendant check lavatory and passenger. Smoke detector did not activate. Got no fire warnings or cautions and no cargo smoke warnings. After consultation with first officer, we declared emergency and were given vector for runway 27 at cvg. ATC offered us airborne airpark at 2 mins/7 mi. Since I knew nothing about the airport, the WX was very bad, did not have charts for the airport, did not know what crash fire rescue equipment was available, or if they were familiar with the CL65, I elected to continue to cvg. Additionally, the smell was beginning to dissipate and the flight attendant indicated no presence of actual smoke or fire. Landing was accomplished with no further problems. The only thing I could have done differently would have been to land at another airport. We were only 10 mins away from cvg which was a known factor and the indicators, in my opinion, did not dictate an immediate landing.

Title: ACR FLT AND CABIN CREW DETECT SMOKE SMELL, DECLARE AN EMER AND LAND. UNAUTH CIGARETTE SMOKING SUSPECTED AS CAUSE.

Narrative: FLT ATTENDANT PAGED US TO TELL US OF SMELL OF SMOKE IN CABIN. FO ALSO SMELLED IT AND SHORTLY I SMELLED IT. I THOUGHT IT SMELLED LIKE CIGARETTE SMOKE. HAD FLT ATTENDANT CHK LAVATORY AND PAX. SMOKE DETECTOR DID NOT ACTIVATE. GOT NO FIRE WARNINGS OR CAUTIONS AND NO CARGO SMOKE WARNINGS. AFTER CONSULTATION WITH FO, WE DECLARED EMER AND WERE GIVEN VECTOR FOR RWY 27 AT CVG. ATC OFFERED US AIRBORNE AIRPARK AT 2 MINS/7 MI. SINCE I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE ARPT, THE WX WAS VERY BAD, DID NOT HAVE CHARTS FOR THE ARPT, DID NOT KNOW WHAT CFR WAS AVAILABLE, OR IF THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE CL65, I ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO CVG. ADDITIONALLY, THE SMELL WAS BEGINNING TO DISSIPATE AND THE FLT ATTENDANT INDICATED NO PRESENCE OF ACTUAL SMOKE OR FIRE. LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITH NO FURTHER PROBS. THE ONLY THING I COULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY WOULD HAVE BEEN TO LAND AT ANOTHER ARPT. WE WERE ONLY 10 MINS AWAY FROM CVG WHICH WAS A KNOWN FACTOR AND THE INDICATORS, IN MY OPINION, DID NOT DICTATE AN IMMEDIATE LNDG.
