Narrative:

Passenger became verbally abusive to other passenger, crew, his brother. He was slapping his brother, yelling and screaming, and refused to cooperate at his seat. I went back to main cabin to help flight attendants finish the meal service and observed flight attendant #2 trying to calm 2 passenger seated in row xg. I was standing near the business class galley and could hear these men shouting. Flight attendant #2 spoke to them twice before I could get there. When I addressed them the man asked me to get him an alcoholic drink. I told him he had had enough and offered him an entree choice and soft drink. He became belligerent and handed the tray back to me. He did not want to eat if he couldn't have alcohol. He started shouting at his brother, and hitting the seat in front of him disrupting the passenger seated in front of him. I tried to reason with him that he must get control of himself or we would have auths meet the flight. At this point I asked flight attendant #3 if he could speak with him. This seemed to work temporarily, and he once again began shouting, chanting, clapping his hands. The captain was informed that he needed to come back. The captain came back to reason with him, to no avail. The captain informed us that we would be landing at gander, newfoundland, to remove him (the passenger). The captain and flight attendant #3 restrained the passenger to his seat and moved his brother across the aisle. During the approach, flight attendant #2 phoned me that the passenger had wriggled free of the restraints and cut his wrists doing it. I removed the rubber gloves from the service kit and gave them to the officers when they boarded. The passenger was removed without further incident, we refueled and left. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the unruly passenger never struck a crew member, just his brother. The crew later found that they were drinking out of their own bottle of duty free liquor. On touchdown, the man got out of his restraints and started to run down the aisle, chanting 'I want to go to jail. I want to go to jail.' everyone seated in 10 rows in front of him and in back of him was very frightened by the whole affair, especially the woman sitting in front of the brothers, because he was kicking her seat and touching her head. They had at least 1 hour delay on the ground in gander, while mechanics checked out the airplane for damage due to landing heavy. While on the ground in gander, the crew decided that the brother could continue on with them. However, when they went to tell him of their decision, they found him in a lavatory, smoking. The reporter does not know what charges, if any, were filed against him.

Title: CABIN ATTENDANT RPT, B767-200. JFK-LHR, INTOXICATED, VERBALLY AND PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE PAX. DIVERT TO GANDER, NF. POLICE REMOVED PAX. PAX RELATIVE SMOKED IN LAVATORY ON GND.

Narrative: PAX BECAME VERBALLY ABUSIVE TO OTHER PAX, CREW, HIS BROTHER. HE WAS SLAPPING HIS BROTHER, YELLING AND SCREAMING, AND REFUSED TO COOPERATE AT HIS SEAT. I WENT BACK TO MAIN CABIN TO HELP FLT ATTENDANTS FINISH THE MEAL SVC AND OBSERVED FLT ATTENDANT #2 TRYING TO CALM 2 PAX SEATED IN ROW XG. I WAS STANDING NEAR THE BUSINESS CLASS GALLEY AND COULD HEAR THESE MEN SHOUTING. FLT ATTENDANT #2 SPOKE TO THEM TWICE BEFORE I COULD GET THERE. HE STARTED SHOUTING AT HIS BROTHER, AND HITTING THE SEAT IN FRONT OF HIM DISRUPTING THE PAX SEATED IN FRONT OF HIM. I TRIED TO REASON WITH HIM THAT HE MUST GET CTL OF HIMSELF OR WE WOULD HAVE AUTHS MEET THE FLT. AT THIS POINT I ASKED FLT ATTENDANT #3 IF HE COULD SPEAK WITH HIM. THIS SEEMED TO WORK TEMPORARILY, AND HE ONCE AGAIN BEGAN SHOUTING, CHANTING, CLAPPING HIS HANDS. THE CAPT WAS INFORMED THAT HE NEEDED TO COME BACK. THE CAPT CAME BACK TO REASON WITH HIM, TO NO AVAIL. THE CAPT INFORMED US THAT WE WOULD BE LNDG AT GANDER, NEWFOUNDLAND, TO REMOVE HIM (THE PAX). THE CAPT AND FLT ATTENDANT #3 RESTRAINED THE PAX TO HIS SEAT AND MOVED HIS BROTHER ACROSS THE AISLE. DURING THE APCH, FLT ATTENDANT #2 PHONED ME THAT THE PAX HAD WRIGGLED FREE OF THE RESTRAINTS AND CUT HIS WRISTS DOING IT. I REMOVED THE RUBBER GLOVES FROM THE SVC KIT AND GAVE THEM TO THE OFFICERS WHEN THEY BOARDED. THE PAX WAS REMOVED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT, WE REFUELED AND LEFT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THAT THE UNRULY PAX NEVER STRUCK A CREW MEMBER, JUST HIS BROTHER. THEY HAD AT LEAST 1 HR DELAY ON THE GND IN GANDER, WHILE MECHS CHKED OUT THE AIRPLANE FOR DAMAGE DUE TO LNDG HVY. WHILE ON THE GND IN GANDER, THE CREW DECIDED THAT THE BROTHER COULD CONTINUE ON WITH THEM. HOWEVER, WHEN THEY WENT TO TELL HIM OF THEIR DECISION, THEY FOUND HIM IN A LAVATORY, SMOKING. THE RPTR DOES NOT KNOW WHAT CHARGES, IF ANY, WERE FILED AGAINST HIM.
