Narrative:

I was flying the aircraft. The tower cleared us for takeoff on runway 20. While clearing us, he gave us a different altitude and a left turn and wind direction -- all at the same time (original clearance was runway heading). The first officer acknowledged (I changed the altitude selector to the new altitude) and we took off. About 2000 ft, the first officer asked me when I was going to start my turn. I responded that I did not hear anything about a turn. Once I realized we were supposed to be on a 120 degree heading, I immediately turned. There was no conflict and the tower never said anything to us about it.
