Narrative:
N90 approach gave us what we thought was a 040 degree heading and we read it back that way. 3 mins later they asked what heading were we flying, I said 040 degrees assigned, and they said we were assigned 340 degree heading. We then turned to 020 degrees and nothing else was said except ATC said I must have missed your readback.

Narrative: N90 APCH GAVE US WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A 040 DEG HDG AND WE READ IT BACK THAT WAY. 3 MINS LATER THEY ASKED WHAT HDG WERE WE FLYING, I SAID 040 DEGS ASSIGNED, AND THEY SAID WE WERE ASSIGNED 340 DEG HDG. WE THEN TURNED TO 020 DEGS AND NOTHING ELSE WAS SAID EXCEPT ATC SAID I MUST HAVE MISSED YOUR READBACK.
