Narrative:

While observing my student's solo from myf tower, I was advised by local and ground controllers that a cessna 172 reported that its right wingtip was struck by the cessna 172 piloted by my student at the run-up area for runway 28R. Both aircraft returned to their respective tie-downs to ensure both were flyable. The right wingtip of the aircraft operated by my student showed evidence of paint from the other aircraft. A mechanic inspected both aircraft and concluded that both were airworthy. I advised my student to be a whole lot more careful when taxiing around other aircraft.
