Narrative:

While en route from dfw to lit, the cockpit crew smelled gasoline. I went to the cargo area with a flight attendant and found a postal parcel that was leaking. I notified the captain and the box was placed in a plastic bag to contain spillage. We diverted to texarkana after completing several checklists and donning oxygen masks. Upon landing, all passenger were deplaned through the cabin door. Crash fire rescue equipment took over in regards to the box which was found to contain a chain saw complete with gasoline. There were no injuries reported in this case. Both flight attendants took oxygen upon landing and the flight crew was dispatched 4 hours later for further flight duties.
