Narrative:

The aircraft had a #1 generator failure off the gate in iad and I was deferring the #1 generator/CSD per MEL card. I did not realize the MEL card had been revised to require a check of the APU oil and the affected CSD prior to departure and failed to have them checked. The previous MEL required only an oil check of the CSD within 5 hours flight time.

Title: A B737-300 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH #1 GENERATOR DEFERRED PER THE MEL OFF THE GATE BUT APU AND CSD OIL RESERVOIR NOT CHKED PER SPECIAL PROC.

Narrative: THE ACFT HAD A #1 GENERATOR FAILURE OFF THE GATE IN IAD AND I WAS DEFERRING THE #1 GENERATOR/CSD PER MEL CARD. I DID NOT REALIZE THE MEL CARD HAD BEEN REVISED TO REQUIRE A CHK OF THE APU OIL AND THE AFFECTED CSD PRIOR TO DEP AND FAILED TO HAVE THEM CHKED. THE PREVIOUS MEL REQUIRED ONLY AN OIL CHK OF THE CSD WITHIN 5 HRS FLT TIME.
