Narrative:

We got a TA then an RA to climb and when we called center to tell them, we discovered that we had probably flown out of range and were no longer hearing them. We never got a frequency change but re-established communication on 124.22 on our own and were told that we were supposed to be on charleston approach. We were operationally restr to 10000 ft. We were in VMC, climbed to 11000 ft, never saw the traffic, and went back to 10000 ft.
