Narrative:

Air carrier flight XXX iah-gua, B737-700 aircraft. Landed at mggt runway 19. Saw C310 on centerline of runway, no lights, pointing at us. Swerved aircraft to right of runway and our wing must have gone over the top of him. Spoke with tower the next day. Said, when we were 30 mi out they had a report of unauthorized aircraft landing. Sent fire trucks to check it out. They reported all clear. Aircraft had no lights on and no pilot. Understand it had drugs in the C310. With any kind of report like this they need to drive the full length of the runway to make sure all is clear. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter states that he is not sure whether the B737-700 wingtip cleared the C310 wingtip or vertical stabilizer but he is sure there was less than zero horizontal clearance. He spoke with an airport supervisor when one became available the next day. This person indicated that 2 individuals were apprehended with over 200 pounds of cocaine, but was unable or willing to part with any further details. Of note, the reporter stated that if he had swerved any further to the right, the B737 right mains would have left the runway surface and that when he did stop, the gua fire truck was right alongside of the aircraft. The reporter states that the tower had a report of an unidented aircraft landing when the reporter aircraft was 30 NM from gua, but nothing was said to the flight crew. He has also made irregularity reports to the air carrier chief pilot, who seems to think that any further investigation would not yield much satisfaction. The reporter is aware that vigilance and luck both played a part in the positive resolution of this incident and that there is probably no way such a future incident could be prevented in today's drug traffic environment.

Title: B737-700 NEAR MISS LNDG AT GUA SWERVING TO AVOID UNLIT UNAUTH ACFT ON RWY.

Narrative: ACR FLT XXX IAH-GUA, B737-700 ACFT. LANDED AT MGGT RWY 19. SAW C310 ON CTRLINE OF RWY, NO LIGHTS, POINTING AT US. SWERVED ACFT TO R OF RWY AND OUR WING MUST HAVE GONE OVER THE TOP OF HIM. SPOKE WITH TWR THE NEXT DAY. SAID, WHEN WE WERE 30 MI OUT THEY HAD A RPT OF UNAUTH ACFT LNDG. SENT FIRE TRUCKS TO CHK IT OUT. THEY RPTED ALL CLR. ACFT HAD NO LIGHTS ON AND NO PLT. UNDERSTAND IT HAD DRUGS IN THE C310. WITH ANY KIND OF RPT LIKE THIS THEY NEED TO DRIVE THE FULL LENGTH OF THE RWY TO MAKE SURE ALL IS CLR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATES THAT HE IS NOT SURE WHETHER THE B737-700 WINGTIP CLRED THE C310 WINGTIP OR VERT STABILIZER BUT HE IS SURE THERE WAS LESS THAN ZERO HORIZ CLRNC. HE SPOKE WITH AN ARPT SUPVR WHEN ONE BECAME AVAILABLE THE NEXT DAY. THIS PERSON INDICATED THAT 2 INDIVIDUALS WERE APPREHENDED WITH OVER 200 LBS OF COCAINE, BUT WAS UNABLE OR WILLING TO PART WITH ANY FURTHER DETAILS. OF NOTE, THE RPTR STATED THAT IF HE HAD SWERVED ANY FURTHER TO THE R, THE B737 R MAINS WOULD HAVE LEFT THE RWY SURFACE AND THAT WHEN HE DID STOP, THE GUA FIRE TRUCK WAS RIGHT ALONGSIDE OF THE ACFT. THE RPTR STATES THAT THE TWR HAD A RPT OF AN UNIDENTED ACFT LNDG WHEN THE RPTR ACFT WAS 30 NM FROM GUA, BUT NOTHING WAS SAID TO THE FLC. HE HAS ALSO MADE IRREGULARITY RPTS TO THE ACR CHIEF PLT, WHO SEEMS TO THINK THAT ANY FURTHER INVESTIGATION WOULD NOT YIELD MUCH SATISFACTION. THE RPTR IS AWARE THAT VIGILANCE AND LUCK BOTH PLAYED A PART IN THE POSITIVE RESOLUTION OF THIS INCIDENT AND THAT THERE IS PROBABLY NO WAY SUCH A FUTURE INCIDENT COULD BE PREVENTED IN TODAY'S DRUG TFC ENVIRONMENT.
