Narrative:

The aircraft had just gone through a 'C-check' and as such, performed a thorough preflight. On the walkaround, no missing paint was noted on the tailskid. The takeoff was maximum power but rotation was smooth and slow until airborne. Care was taken to not rotate too quickly. The landing was an autoland. The pitch attitude was not excessive -- looked normal and the landing smooth. The winds were light and mostly down the runway. No postflt was accomplished by crew. Supplemental information from acn 437820: I was informed that the crew preflted the aircraft after my flight wrote up a tailskid scrape. This is the first that I have heard about it. My recollection of the flight was nothing abnormal. We conducted a reliability check flight with a light weight maximum power takeoff and a coupled autoland at dfw. Fully aware that a light aircraft with maximum power is perhaps more susceptible to a rapid rotation, my rotation was not rapid. During the autoland at dfw, airspeed was reference plus 8 due to wind, touchdown was normal. No pitch up was noted after spoiler extension. Autobrakes and autospoilers were armed and operated satisfactorily. The first officer did the walkaround at dfw, but did not notice anything unusual. I cannot verify whether the paint was on or off coming out of the maintenance base visit. Unfortunately, by the time I was notified of the suspected event, after the digital flight data recorder was looped (aircraft had flown more than 25 hours), so we could not see the aircraft parameters on that flight. I have no idea whether the paint would have been scraped on takeoff or landing, as the flight profile seemed well within limits.

Title: B767 FLC ADVISED THAT DAYS EARLIER, A RELIEF FLC DOCUMENTED ACFT HAD INCURRED A TAILSKID.

Narrative: THE ACFT HAD JUST GONE THROUGH A 'C-CHK' AND AS SUCH, PERFORMED A THOROUGH PREFLT. ON THE WALKAROUND, NO MISSING PAINT WAS NOTED ON THE TAILSKID. THE TKOF WAS MAX PWR BUT ROTATION WAS SMOOTH AND SLOW UNTIL AIRBORNE. CARE WAS TAKEN TO NOT ROTATE TOO QUICKLY. THE LNDG WAS AN AUTOLAND. THE PITCH ATTITUDE WAS NOT EXCESSIVE -- LOOKED NORMAL AND THE LNDG SMOOTH. THE WINDS WERE LIGHT AND MOSTLY DOWN THE RWY. NO POSTFLT WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY CREW. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 437820: I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CREW PREFLTED THE ACFT AFTER MY FLT WROTE UP A TAILSKID SCRAPE. THIS IS THE FIRST THAT I HAVE HEARD ABOUT IT. MY RECOLLECTION OF THE FLT WAS NOTHING ABNORMAL. WE CONDUCTED A RELIABILITY CHK FLT WITH A LIGHT WT MAX PWR TKOF AND A COUPLED AUTOLAND AT DFW. FULLY AWARE THAT A LIGHT ACFT WITH MAX PWR IS PERHAPS MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO A RAPID ROTATION, MY ROTATION WAS NOT RAPID. DURING THE AUTOLAND AT DFW, AIRSPD WAS REF PLUS 8 DUE TO WIND, TOUCHDOWN WAS NORMAL. NO PITCH UP WAS NOTED AFTER SPOILER EXTENSION. AUTOBRAKES AND AUTOSPOILERS WERE ARMED AND OPERATED SATISFACTORILY. THE FO DID THE WALKAROUND AT DFW, BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING UNUSUAL. I CANNOT VERIFY WHETHER THE PAINT WAS ON OR OFF COMING OUT OF THE MAINT BASE VISIT. UNFORTUNATELY, BY THE TIME I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SUSPECTED EVENT, AFTER THE DIGITAL FLT DATA RECORDER WAS LOOPED (ACFT HAD FLOWN MORE THAN 25 HRS), SO WE COULD NOT SEE THE ACFT PARAMETERS ON THAT FLT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER THE PAINT WOULD HAVE BEEN SCRAPED ON TKOF OR LNDG, AS THE FLT PROFILE SEEMED WELL WITHIN LIMITS.
