Narrative:
While descending to 6000 ft, a TA warning sounded at 6800 ft. At 6300 ft an RA alert sounded and I immediately climbed to 7000 ft. Approach was advised and they stated that they also had a traffic alert. TCASII showed the other aircraft to be 500 ft below our altitude at the time I responded to the RA.

Title: A B727 HAS A CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH A LIGHT ACFT 30 MI FROM PHL, PA.
Narrative: WHILE DSNDING TO 6000 FT, A TA WARNING SOUNDED AT 6800 FT. AT 6300 FT AN RA ALERT SOUNDED AND I IMMEDIATELY CLBED TO 7000 FT. APCH WAS ADVISED AND THEY STATED THAT THEY ALSO HAD A TFC ALERT. TCASII SHOWED THE OTHER ACFT TO BE 500 FT BELOW OUR ALT AT THE TIME I RESPONDED TO THE RA.
